AGM

The 4th ANNUAL GENERAL METING OF FALKLAND TRAIL RUNNERS

The AGM was meant to be at Falkland Community Hall on Thursday 4th April, however upon arrival the Blood Transfusion Service had been there all day. Obviously a booking error.

A quick call to The Lomond Hills Hotel in Freuchie saw us relocate to my wee village where a 30 minute ‘Pursuits’ session was held at the ‘People’s Park’.

The AGM started at 19.30 with 29 Skwerlz in attendance. The hotel provided refreshments and a warm comfortable environment where business could be conducted.

The following were duly elected to the committee unopposed:-

Brian Cruickshank (President)

Susie Harley (Vice President)

Maureen Close (Treasurer)

Jim Close (Secretary/Minute Secretary)

Nessie Kirkbride (Welfare Officer)

Mike Murdoch (Member)

Kevin Murray (Member)

There were three amendments proposed to the constitution namely:-

(i)         ‘in the event of no other person(s) wishing to stand against outgoing management committee/ordinary member of the committee, they may be granted another year of service to the members by remaining on the committee’’

Proposed by Mike Murdoch; Seconded by Kevin Murray

This amendment was unanimously approved and Jim and Maureen retook their seats at the top table

  • ‘Should an individual seek to display an interest in any post of the Management committee from 2019 that they have the opportunity to ‘shadow’ the current post holder in order to ensure transparency and that a firm grounding of knowledge is transferred to that individual’’

Proposed by Susanne Lumsden; Seconded by Dave Clark

This amendment was unanimously approved.

  • As per Scottish Athletics Template (Constitutional Template) that:- ‘The Management Committee shall have the power to refuse membership to an applicant (new or existing), where it is considered such membership would be detrimental to the aims, purposes or activities of the club’

This was unanimously approved with an addition to this amendment be considered as raised by Bill Gillan that

  • ‘’For good and sufficient reason to refuse renewal of any membership provided that the member concerned shall have the right to be heard by the full management committee before a final decision is made’’

This amendment was carried unanimously

All three amendments to be added to the constitution by the club Secretary
